Tour Description

Iceland northern lights – Northern lights tour iceland. The Aurora Borealis is one of the most spectacular sights to be seen in nature, and a Northern Lights cruise with Amelia Rose yacht offers you an excellent opportunity to witness this unforgettable celestial phenomenon in person – a real bucket-list experience.

Enjoy the eerie glow of this night-time kaleidoscope as solar flares are drawn to the Earth’s atmosphere by the magnetic fields of the Arctic, painting mesmerising displays of green, white, violet, red across the sky.

To see the aurora requires a clear and dark night sky, so a the Northern Lights cruise will take you away from the bright lights of the capital city for a much better chance of success. Remember though – the Northern Lights are not “on” every day!

Good to Know
We recommend all guests dress warmly in multiple layers and good footwear as it is always colder on the water. Don’t forget your camera! *Normally we go out on Amelia Rose, however if we have fewer than 12 passengers we may take our smaller yacht, Axel Rose, as it reduces our impact on the environment.
FAQs
How should I dress? What should I bring?
We recommend that all guests dress warmly in layers and sturdy footwear as it is always much colder out on the water. We will provide you with warm blankets, and you can always stay warm by viewing from our wheelhouse with our friendly captains. Don´t forget your camera and a sense of adventure!
What if we did not see the lights?
If there are no sightings on the tour, we´ll offer you a complimentary voucher for the same tour. This voucher is valid for three years. Refunds are not offered in the event of no sightings.
What is the cancellation policy?
You may cancel a booking up to 48 hours prior to departure without penalty if your travel plans change. A cancellation with less than 48 hours notice will incur a 50% charge.
Will I get seasick?
Everyone is affected by the ocean differently. Our ships are very stable, and we don’t go out in very rough weather. However, we do supply seasickness tablets for free if you want them. We also recommend having a full stomach before you get on board and sipping drinks throughout the trip if you are concerned.
When is the best time of the year to see the lights?
From late August until mid- April.
Do you offer private tours?
Yes, we most certainly do! Please contact to icelanddiscover@icelanddiscover.is with your request and we will definitely look into it and respond with the ideal tour for you and your travel group.
What is the standard tip for tour guides?
Tourism in Iceland is young and there is no custom for donating tips nor is it mandatory or expected but greatly appreciated if you wish to show your appreciation in that way.
