Tour Description

The diamond tour will take you to the dramatic south west coast of Iceland; Geo-thermic springs, dramatic mountain views, lava fields, rivers and a waterfall. This stunning landscape showcases the best of Iceland, and is a wonderful day trip.

There are quite a few artisans in the area as you will see in the workshops as well as farm lodgings, country boutiques, and that’s just the beginning.

Highlights

Urriðafoss waterfall
Iceland’s greatest waterfall in water quantity.
Tré og List
A charming museum of wood and art craftsmanship, full of wonderful pieces made by the local farmer.
Strandakirkja – Rural Church
A stone throw from the beach, where the bitterly cold sea meets harsh volcanic rocks and black sand.
Krísuvíkurbjarg
Stunning black cliffs. Here, thousands of sea birds nest. You can hike along the trail to the edge of the cliffs where it’s possible to spot Kittiwakes, puffins, peewits, guillemots, razorbills, and other birds as they dive into the sea. The great stretch of cliffs at Krýsuvíkurbjarg are amongst the best bird-watching sites in Iceland; in summer, 60,000 residents nest within the sheer face.
Krísuvík
Geothermal area where you can take a walk between the boiling mud puddles and smell the solfatares.
Kleifarvatn
Nestled below a steep mountain, the seemingly deserted space is an attractive spot for a quiet walk over small black lava rocks.
Little Extra Touch
We will add some local touch and different places to visit depending on time, weather and mood.

FAQs
What should I bring on the tour with me?
Depending on the nature of your tour, you may want to pack a bit more or less than usual. If you are going to be doing some hiking or a lot of walking, it is recommended that you bring a good pair of boots that are sturdy for walking on uneven paths. The weather can also be unpredictable, so it is better if your boots and jacket are weatherproof. Refreshments will also depend on the tour. If you would like, you are welcome to bring snacks of your own, but your guide may also stop at local gas stations that offer a selection of snacks, and sometimes hot food as well.
How long are the stops on your scheduled tours? Is there time to go hiking?
The lengths of the stops are not decided in beforehand. It all depends on the group, weather, route and tour guide. You will probably be able to go on a short hike – please consult your guide.
What is the standard tip for tour guides?
Tourism in Iceland is young and there is no custom for donating tips nor is it mandatory or expected but greatly appreciated if you wish to show your appreciation in that way.
Can I bring a drone with me?
That depends on the location. Flying drones on Iceland National Parks requires a special permit. All tours in glacier outlets of Vatnajökull take place in Vatnajökull National Park, this includes all tours from Skaftafell and from Jökulsárlón. In order to fly your drone, you need to request a permission to the National Park. You can find the information on their website. Same applies for tours on Thingvellir National Park (such as Golden Circle, Golden Circle and Snorkeling, and Snorkeling in Silfra), information can be found on the National Park website website. Keep in mind there are other areas where done use is also forbidden and/or discouraged by local communities. It is safe to bring a drone to Sólheimajökull glacier without a permit. However, you need to keep in mind that we can’t delay the other members of your tour to accommodate filmmaking.
Do you offer private tours?
Yes, we most certainly do! Please contact to icelanddiscover@icelanddiscover.is with your request and we will definitely look into it and respond with the ideal tour for you and your travel group.
